Book of Dreams Retreat Feb. 28-Mar. 6, 2019 Teotihuacan
BOOK OF DREAMS
A Retreat of Painting, Writing, Dreaming
in Teotihuacan, Mexico
Feb. 28 - March 6, 2019
with Iva Peele and Emily K. Grieves
Join us for Book of Dreams
1500 years ago in Mexico, the Toltec people talked of dreaming heaven on earth. It was our work as humans to realign our hearts by dreaming heaven here. An anonymous Aztec poet later wrote:
These Toltecs were very wise.
It was their custom to converse with their own hearts..
They created a whole system,
the book of dreams.
You carry a code, your own unique language that weaves its way from your dream time thoughts to your worldly ideas, from the images and symbols gleaned from travel between dimensions to the vocabulary you use in all of your days. This code is the language you use to create your book of dreams…
In our time together, we will dive deep into noticing and recording our dreams, both sleeping and waking, and we will weave our observations into a deeper understanding of the symbol and metaphor of our own psyche and its capacity for creation. We will excavate the language of our dreams and the wisdom of our soul, bringing it into the light and giving it form through the creation of our own Book of Dreams, a painted poetry/art journal that will house the signs and symbols of our emerging dream lexicon. You will be gently guided through journeys and visualizations, as well as through the art process of creating your book. Visits to the nearby 2000 year old pyramids of Teotihuacan will support our deepest dreaming as we hold ourselves in the spirit of retreat and learn to navigate between dimensions with the awareness that is the natural state of our souls.
Our retreat will include a sunrise hot air balloon ride as a sublime experience of moving between our sleeping dream and waking dream, between heaven and earth.
The fee of $1700 includes:
6 nights double occupancy accommodations at The Dreaming House in Teotihuacán, (www.thedreaminghousemx.com), all group meals, entrance fees, teachings, and group ground transportation. It also includes all art materials and a group ride in a hot balloon over the pyramids. Private rooms are available for an additional fee of $400.
This does not include your airfare to Mexico City, personal expenses or emergency finances. We recommend you purchase travel insurance in case of emergencies.
NO PREVIOUS ART EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED FOR OUR CREATIVE PROCESS!

About Emily Grieves:
Emily Grieves received a BFA degree in art from the University of Montana in 1993, followed by study of art history in Berlin, Germany, as a Fulbright scholar. She lived in San Francisco, California, for 10 years where she began exploring symbolism, mythology, and ritual in her artwork, drawing inspiration from the celebrations and mysteries of life. She has been a practitioner of shamanic healing and hands-on energy work since 1997. As of 2004, she makes her home in Teotihuacan, Mexico, where she has painted murals at the Dreaming House spiritual retreat center and has created a body of artwork influenced by the cosmological imagery left in the ancient pyramids and by her relationship with the Divine Feminine. In 2014, she opened her studio Taller de Arte El Refugio, in Teotihuacan. Emily is a certified Intentional Creativity Teacher as well as a member of the Intentional Creativity Guild, an international organization that promotes intuitive artistic expression as a way to make positive change in the world.
